The US Space Force has unveiled a photo taken by its secretive X-37B space plane while it was orbiting the Earth.

The spacecraft must perform a specific trajectory in high-Earth orbit to change its orbit safely and dispose of its components in accordance with space debris reduction agreements.
After the aerobrake maneuver is finished, the X-37B will continue conducting its test and research tasks until they’re completed, and then it will re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere and safely return, just as it has done six times before.
On February 21, the US Space Force shared an image of a spacecraft in orbit, along with a clear view of the Earth.
In 2024, a camera on the X-37B spacecraft, which is designed to monitor its own health and safety, took a photo of the Earth while it was conducting experiments in a highly elliptical orbit. The X-37B performed a series of groundbreaking maneuvers, known as aerobraking, to adjust its orbit using the least amount of fuel necessary.

It would consume a huge amount of fuel in a very short time, making it nearly useless for hitting targets that aren’t directly on its course.
The Air Force’s formal statement doesn’t reveal much information.

The main goals of the X-37B program involve developing reusable spacecraft technology to support the US space program, as well as conducting experiments that can be retrieved and studied on Earth. Technologies being explored in the program include advanced navigation and control systems, heat-resistant materials, electronic systems, high-temperature structures and seals, specialized insulation, lightweight mechanical flight systems, advanced propulsion systems, cutting-edge materials, and autonomous spaceflight capabilities, including reentry and landing.
For now, you’ll have to accept the official explanation or simply live with the fact that a mysterious space plane is hovering above us, with the US military being the only ones aware of its purpose.
