The US has plans to supply Ukraine with $500 million worth of military equipment already stored in its inventory in order to strengthen Ukraine’s bargaining power before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, according to US officials.

“Moving forward, our priority will be sustaining the momentum, bringing tangible results, and unmistakably conveying the international community’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s cause,” Austin said to the reporters accompanying him.
The funds for these weapons come from a presidential act that allows for drawing directly from the U.S. stockpile. A high-ranking defense official stated that the objective is to deliver the ammunition into Ukraine’s possession by the end of the month.
The officials spoke on the condition of speaking anonymously in order to share details that have not been publicly disclosed.
The United States has delivered around $66.5 billion of military aid to Ukraine up to this point, following Russia’s invasion almost three years ago.
There’s approximately around $4 billion on tap in remaining congressional funding for Ukraine, and most of it will be carried over to see whether the Trump administration will decide to continue providing weaponry aid.
