on Saturday (January 18).
On the podcast with his older brother Jason Kelce, the subject of the referees’ bias came up, with a focus on the questionable calls made against quarterback Patrick Mahomes, including penalties for incidental contact.
One notable critic was rapper Lil Wayne, who expressed his displeasure in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I hate the cheating azz chiefs.”
“This isn’t even impressive when you cheat and then try to cover it up. Just be honest and win straight out if that’s what you’re going to do,” he added.
“Jason said that everyone’s attention was focused on something else during the game. He’s probably referring to the controversy surrounding the referees, and he mentioned that even Lil Wayne had a comment on social media, tweeting ‘I hate the cheating azz Chiefs. So an ass with two z’s’.
“Hello to Tuchie man,” Travis said.
Jason then pointed out a post by Khalen Saunders, a defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints, in which he suggested that, although the referee calls in the game were debatable, the Texans left Travis exposed, uncovered, and vulnerable to defense for an entire quarter.
They totally exposed me,” Travis replied during the podcast, “They left me hanging completely bare.
I really hope that in the AFC Championship, the Chiefs get hit with 13 penalties and still manage to come out on top.
The older Kelce brother then asked Travis for his opinion on the disputed calls, to which he replied with a joke, saying “I’d rather not take the fifth on this one.”
The team entered the game with a mindset focused on countering the officiating.
DeMeco Ryans, the Texans coach, echoed Anderson’s point by saying, “We realized ahead of time that it was going to be us against the rest of the field.”
And by ‘everybody’, I mean all individuals. Given what we were going up against in that game, we simply can’t afford to make the errors we made…
With the Chiefs’ victory, they will next face the Buffalo Bills to see which team will be crowned the AFC Champions and earn a spot in the Super Bowl.
As they currently strive for their third championship victory.
Their game against the Buffalo Bills will be held on Sunday, January 26 at Arrowhead Stadium, with a 6 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff.
