Nintendo, a leading gaming company, unveiled its latest console in a highly anticipated announcement that gamers have been eagerly anticipating since rumors of its impending release started circulating years ago.
The new Nintendo Switch console, the successor to the current Switch model, is slated for release in 2025, according to the company.
Nintendo has revealed a plus-sized version of the Switch, resembling its predecessor. The demo also displays the enhanced controllers, or Joy-Cons, which now clip onto the main unit’s sides instead of sliding in.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to run games that are exclusive to the Switch, as well as existing games for both its physical and digital formats, the company claimed. However, Nintendo warned that some existing games may experience compatibility issues or lack support on the new console.
There was not a lot of information given in the announcement about the new console itself, nor was a specific release date mentioned. Nintendo says more details about the console will come out at their Nintendo Direct event in April. They will also be hosting “Nintendo Switch 2 Experience” events in various countries, where visitors can get a firsthand look at the system.
Exciting events are planned in cities including Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris starting in April. Tickets for these events will be available for registration on Friday, according to Nintendo.
