Girl Scout Cookie Season Has Officially Begun — But These 2 Fan-Favorite Flavors Are Being Discontinued

It’s time to get a box or boxes, in quantity of two, or even a dozen!

It’s the most exciting time of the year for cookie enthusiasts.

The wait is finally over! And while that’s great news all around, we have some lesser news to share. GSUSA has let us know that it’s phasing out two well-loved flavors at the end of this cookie season: Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! ones. But you can still grab a batch for this year and freeze them to enjoy them for a bit longer.

Some of our cookie varieties are constantly being updated to make way for fresh ideas,” a spokesperson for Girl Scouts USA told Food & Wine. “Cutting out Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores could just give us the chance to introduce exciting new flavors.

There are still plenty of delicious options available, including classic flavors like Thin Mints, Samoas, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, and Tagalongs, to name a few. And getting your favorite flavor does more than just hit the spot – it’s a treat that goes beyond satisfying your sweet cravings.

According to GSUSA’s chief revenue officer Wendy Lou, Girl Scout Cookie season is more than just a time to buy the classic treats people adore. The money girls earn from cookie sales actually supports their endeavors in leadership, business, and community building. Each successful sale is a way of showing how capable girls are of making a positive impact when they work hard towards a goal.

The Girl Scouts of the USA state that taking part in cookie sales allows participants to acquire highly valuable business skills, such as “goal setting, money management, decision-making, people skills, and business ethics,” which are essential for developing future business leaders. Additionally, participants can earn a multitude of badges by completing their sales, like Cookie Business badges, Financial Literacy badges, Cookie Entrepreneur Family pins, and Entrepreneur badges. What’s more, the money earned from the cookie sales stays within the local councils and troops, supporting activities and experiences such as summer camps, trips, and community service projects.

If you place an order on or after February 21, we’ll be able to ship the cookies to your home as soon as possible.
