Carrie Underwood to perform at Trump’s inauguration

Country music star Carrie Underwood will take the stage at President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration, a spokesperson for the inaugural committee announced.

It’s an indication that Trump’s second inauguration may feature a more high-profile lineup than his 2017 inaugural ceremony eight years ago.

Carrie Underwood, whose music career skyrocketed after winning “American Idol” in 2005, will take the stage to sing “America the Beautiful” on January 20 before President-elect Trump takes his oath of office. Underwood will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club for the performance.

Renowned opera singer Christopher Macchio will be singing the national anthem.

Before Trump became the President, he hosted a concert at the Lincoln Memorial which featured performances by Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Lee Greenwood. At the swearing-in ceremony, former “America’s Got Talent” contestant Jackie Evancho sang the national anthem.

Donald Trump’s inauguration celebration begins this Saturday at his golf course in Sterling, Virginia, which is roughly an hour west of Washington D.C., according to his inaugural committee’s announcement on Monday.

On Sunday, President Trump will pay a visit to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Following that, he will attend a rally at the Capital One Arena in Washington with his backers. He has also planned a candlelight dinner for the evening.

President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are scheduled to attend a church service and tea at the White House before the inauguration. Later, President Trump will be sworn in, followed by a parade along Pennsylvania Avenue. Prior to the formal events, there will be three inaugural balls held in celebration.

The Village People, whose song “Y.M.C.A.” has become a familiar presence at Trump events, announced on Facebook that they have accepted an invitation to perform at inaugural activities, including a specific event with President-elect Trump.
