Mexico has rolled out “Operative Frontera Norte,” or “Operation Northern Border,” to heighten security in its northern cities and communities.

The Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (Defense Ministry) posted a video on its social media account early Tuesday morning showing troops being escorted north. In the video, military cargo planes can be seen loaded with soldiers, while rows of army trucks were motioned down the street.
President Trump has agreed to limit the flow of guns being smuggled from the U.S. into Mexico, where they are often used by violent transnational criminal organizations that engage in cartel wars.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that while she is open to President Trump’s proposals, she expects the US to take concrete steps to help combat the fentanyl crisis.
