Coldplay’s Chris Martin halts Mumbai concert to read letter from Bumrah’s lawyers

Lead singer Chris Martin of Coldplay stopped the concert at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium to read a humorous letter, which he claimed was a legal notice from the lawyers of Jasprit Bumrah.

Taking the microphone, Chris read aloud: “Dear Coldplay, during your first and second shows, you mentioned Jasprit Bumrah without his permission. This is against the rules – you can’t mention his name without authorization. Who do you think you are, some snobbish Britisher? The letter also claims that Mr. Jasprit Bumrah is the top bowler globally, and you’re just a silly musician.”

Earlier, top Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah spoke about the surprise he felt when Chris Martin mentioned him during a concert in Mumbai over the weekend. During the show, Martin made a lighthearted comment, saying the performance needed to be stopped because Bumrah was in the audience.

and asked him to wait for 15 minutes.

“This has really brightened my day! I’m loving the electricity at the Coldplay concert in Mumbai (from what can be seen here) and I feel especially honored to be included,” Bumrah posted on Instagram.

Bumrah has been included on India’s strong roster for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Whether he’ll be able to participate in the ICC tournament may be determined by his current fitness level.

Bumrah will be out for at least five weeks, he’ll miss the first two ODIs against England. We’re currently waiting to hear back from the medical team about his fitness level, and we’ll know for sure in early February.
